Janice Reynoso is an artivist who lives in National City. She runs community gardens, does great work in her community, and is a single mom to 3 daughters. In her mid 40s, her daughter had a one year old daughter when we were there in August 2023.
Janice talked about health disparities in her community because of lack of access to healthy, affordable food for all. She talked about the healing power of the microbiome in the soil and all of the benefits that a garden can provide. She also discussed the importance of composting to help remediate the carbon that is being created by food waste.
She made Spanish rice using tomatoes she had just picked from the community garden.
