I was born in El Paso, Texas and have lived in El Paso most of my life here.  Growing up, my mother taught me the satisfaction in a meal’s hearty simplicity and role of ritual in weekly Sunday meals. My father brought a festive and fun touch to our kitchen, throwing together botanas and tweaking traditional dishes!  I observed a beautiful table setting and the grace of  hostessing. I met my husband Todd Southern in 1965 and raised three children and helped with three grandchildren. Our home and kitchen are now the gathering place to cook, platicar and learn about tratidions. Our porch, backyard, and dining room are spaces created and recognized as welcoming and joyful. Our kitchen is our sacred space of aroma and amor. ¡Que viva la sobremesa!
