


Rosalba Flores is an Indigenous Mixtec woman from Oaxaca who lives in Vista, California with her daughters. She has been in the U.S. for around 30 years now. She is around 60 years old. She made an amazing red chile mole and ground the chiles for us in her backyard. The Mixtecs are from one part of Oaxaca. Her hometown is San Miguel Tlacotopec. Her mother taught her to cook.
She talked about the difficulty of her migration journey. She left two of her daughters behind for years. She is very proud of her large, united family. Vista is home to a large Mixtec community where they have large celebrations.
