


I’m a fronteriza born and raised in the El Paso/ Ciudad Juárez area. I love the border for the creativity and resilience of its people. I’m a mother and grandmother of three- Elisa, AJ, and Joaquin. As a writer and historian, I share the stories of my family and the border community with my grandchildren and students. I share this history not only with words about with food—from teaching them about native eatable plants of the Chihuahuan Desert and Mesoamerica to making cheese with them.
